Walk in the Light of the Lord

The pupils decided that this would be the school motto from September 2007.

It was a surprising choice. When asked why it was his choice a boy in year 6 said that light shows us the way and that is like Jesus showing us the way to live our life.  Very impressive thinking!

Letter from Head

Dear Parent,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Churchfield Church of England Primary School on behalf of all the staff, children and Governors of the school.

The information in this brochure is intended to give you an introduction to our school and to the aims and aspirations we have for our pupils.

Until August of 2005 Churchfield was specifically a Junior School, but since September 2005 this was changed to allow us to have Primary status.  In light of this, substantial refurbishment has taken place and was completed in August 2006.  This has included a new building to accommodate the Nursery children alongside a specifically designated Key Stage 1 area within the school.  Every classroom is benefiting from new windows, rewiring and redecoration.  In the central part of the building a brand new computerised library area has just been completed. New building work has just been started to be completed in March 2008 to provide facilities for a Children’s Centre aimed at families of pre-school children.   This is obviously an exciting period in the development of Churchfield CE (C) Primary School.

The academic achievement of our pupils is important to us and all pupils are encouraged to achieve to the best of their potential. We also nurture other talents through an extensive range of extra curricular activities such as music, sport and computing amongst others.

The school offers a happy and secure environment for children. Children are encouraged to be kind and considerate to each other. The Christian and moral values of the Church of England are promoted and are the basis for pastoral care throughout the school. Strong links exist between Churchfield and St Augustines Church with the Rev’d Preb. Newman being a regular visitor.

The school is set in extensive grounds, which allow us to offer excellent outdoor sports facilities. The grounds are also used to promote environmental education across the rest of the curriculum. Last year we rejuvenated the school garden in conjunction with our weekly Family Learning Group.

We enjoy a very productive partnership with our parents, who are encouraged to be involved in every aspect of school life.

If you are interested in knowing more about our school, or coming to have a look around, please contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Linda Hack
Headteacher
