Walk in the Light of the Lord
The pupils decided that this would be the school motto from September 2007.
It was a surprising choice. When asked why it was his choice a boy in year 6 said that light shows us the way and that is like Jesus showing us the way to live our life. Very impressive thinking!

Churchfield Chase off Chancel!
A somewhat drier day than last week's game saw Churchfield netball team take on a visiting team from Chancel Primary. To my knowledge this is the first ever match between the two schools, and we had heard they were keen to show off their prowess. Chancel arrived punctually in a very smart kit and looked the part; ready to play. The team were predominately year 5 pupils and did look a little smaller than us, but experience told us to never underestimate the opposition. The match started! Lots of ball chasing before settling into a pattern. End to end stuff saw the score at 2 all after the first quarter. Churchfield being the more physical team and Chancel making the most of the opportunities they had to score well. Tighter defending and marshalling of their attackers lessened the chances for Chancel to score, but the game remained tight. The last quarter! With only a goal between the two teams, the game could have gone either way. Possession was nearly all Churchfield. Shot after shot was missed, Chancel looking for that break away goal. At last the whistle blew for full time, with Churchfield emerging the winners by 5 goals to 4. A score not truly reflecting the possession and opportunities the home team had, but nevertheless, a very exciting game. Well played to all the children of both side. Chancel certainly have the makings of a very fine team for the future and Churchfield are improving all the time, with their marking and passing fluency increasing with experience. Come on though lads and lasses! Let's score those goals and save the nerves of those watching, to whom I extend, as always, a big thanks. Especially to our umpire, Holly-Anne Tiernan. |
